Like any investment, your website is worth safeguarding. In conjunction with security hardening and regular maintenance, backing up your site regularly is the best way to ensure that your investment is protected.
In the event of something going badly wrong with the site, having a recent backup means that we can easily restore the site to a non-compromised state.
A CDN is a system of distributed servers around the world with each one serving a ‘clone’ of your site.
This has the benefit of bringing your site geographically closer to your users which in turn makes for better availability and higher performance – the data literally has less distance to travel and that makes a significant difference.
A CDN is particularly appropriate for a site with a global audience or one with high volume traffic and heavy bandwidth requirements (e.g. a video hosting website).

It is possible to find hosting for as low as $15/month but in our experience it really is a case of getting what you pay for and it’s a misleading proposition.
Those types of hosting companies can only stay in business by using cheap, underpowered hardware and ramming their servers full of websites to try to make a margin. Cutting corners like that always results in poor performance – those servers load sites slowly (if at all) and often crash altogether when the site requires something more complex of them like putting through an e-commerce purchase.
